TRANSFER STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

 


Transfer Scholarship

  • A $5000 per year academic award is available to admitted full-time transfer students who have earned at least a 3.5 transfer gpa and transferred to Morningside College at least 24 transferable college credits.
  • A $3000 per year academic award is available to admitted full-time transfer students who have earned a 3.0 to 3.49 transfer gpa and transferred to Morningside College at least 24 transferable college credits.  The award is renewable as long as student remains full-time.
   

Talent Award of up to $4000 per year:

Admitted first-time, full-time students may exhibit their talent in up to two of the following talent areas: Art (including Photography), Computer Technology, Creative Writing, Instrumental Music, Mass Communications (TV, Radio, and Newspaper), Mock Trial, Theatre, and Vocal Music.  Students must participate in an audition/evaluation exhibiting their talent to Morningside College faculty.  An audition/evaluation will be set up on an individual basis through the Admissions Office.   Awards are renewable as long as the student remains full-time.  

Connections Award

First-time full-time students are awarded up to $2000 per academic year ($1000 for students who are members of the United Methodist Church and/or $1000 for students whose parent and/or grandparent are alumni of Morningside College).   Awards are renewable as long as the student remains full-time.

Travel Award

A $2000 per year (up to $8000) Travel Grant is awarded to students who make an official campus visit prior to enrolling as a full-time student. Students must be a U.S. citizen from outside the state of Iowa.  

Athletic Grant

This award is granted to full-time undergraduate students based upon outstanding or potential athletic ability as determined by the coach and available funding levels.  The grant is renewable based upon the recommendation of the coach and as long as the student remains full-time.

Siouxland Chamber of Commerce Grant

This program, completely funded and administered by Morningside College, provides a $500 per year renewable grant to any employee, spouse, or dependent child of any member of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce.  To be eligible for the grant, the completed grant paperwork must be received in the Admissions Office no later than the deadline of January 20 and prior to enrollment as a first-time, full-time student.  The grant is renewable as long as student remains full-time. Alumni Endorsement Grant

This program provides a $500 per year renewable grant to any first-time, full-time student who begins enrollment at Morningside College.  To be eligible for the grant, the individual must receive an endorsement from a Morningside College alumnus through the Alumni Endorsement Referral program no later than the deadline of January 20 and prior to enrollment as a first-time full-time student.   The grant is renewable as long as student remains full-time. Phi Theta Kappa Grant

This program, completely funded and administered by Morningside College, provides a $1000 per year renewable grant to any community college student who is an active member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. To be eligible for the grant, the community college student must apply and be accepted to Morningside College, and the completed grant application must be received in the Admissions Office no later than the deadline of May 1 and prior to enrollment as a first-time, full-time student. Morningside Grant

This program provides aid based on demonstrated financial need to full-time undergraduate students.  The Morningside Grant amount may be adjusted if there are changes to the student’s federal, state, or private grant assistance.

Institutional gift aid may not exceed $10,000 per year.

 

Other Opportunities

Carver Scholarship

Eligible applicants are sophomore students currently enrolled in one of the three Regents’ universities, the twenty-three participating four-year private institutions, or sophomore students currently attending a community college in Iowa who intend to transfer to one of the participating four-year institutions as a junior in the fall semester of the award year.  The average scholarship amounts are $7600 at participating private colleges in Iowa. Jack Kent Cook Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program

Annually awards approximately 50 scholarships worth up to $30,000 to students and recent alumni from accredited community colleges who transfer to four-year colleges.  For more information, see your community college representative and/or check the following website: www.jackkentcookefoundation.org.  

Hispanic Scholarship Fund Community College Transfer Scholarship Program

Annually awards 200 scholarships of $1250 and $2500 to students transferring from a two-year college to a four-year institution.  Application deadline is March 15.  Check website for application and eligibility requirements: www.hsf.net

Work Awards

Federal Work Study

Students eligible for this federally funded need based program receive a monthly paycheck after the student has worked and earned the funds.    

RA Stipend, Student Government

Stipend, and other Campus Employment

These programs are completely funded and administered by Morningside College and offer students the opportunity to receive a monthly paycheck for work done on campus. 

Music Participation Stipends

This program is completely funded and administered by Morningside College. The stipends are earned through involvement in music ensembles. (Pianists’ participation will be determined by the piano faculty.) Students must perform an audition to be eligible.
