International students are important members of the Morningside College Family. We greatly appreciate the many ways in which international students enrich our college community. Students who have lived abroad add richness to the campus, bringing with them backgrounds and experiences of other cultures.
Students who are considered "international" for admission and financial aid purposes are defined as non-immigrants, meaning they do not have the intention to immigrate to the United States of America.
Students who have strong academic backgrounds, are fluent in English, and are searching for an excellent liberal arts education are encouraged to apply. We are fortunate to have scholarships for international students, although they are limited.
We are pleased that you want to apply to Morningside College.
We encourage you to apply online to ensure your application is processed quickly and correctly.
The College evaluates all applications based on the student's academic record, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, and recommendations from teachers and counselors. The fact that students are coming from a different background and environment is also a consideration in the decision process. We strive to admit students from all parts of the world.
The TOEFL is required for those students whose native language is other than English and who are not studying in English. ACT or SAT scores may be submitted in lieu of TOEFL scores.
A minimum paper TOEFL score of 500 (173 computer-based, 61 internet-based) is required for admittance.
Qualified students should not hesitate to apply to Morningside College, regardless of their finances. Because of its commitment to a diverse student body, Morningside College provides financial assistance to international students. However, this assistance is limited and competitive. If admitted, international students are awarded financial aid according to the College's policies which determine a student's financial need.
International students are eligible for scholarships. The College awards scholarships during the admission process. The international students do not need to apply separately for these scholarships. Morningside College offers a limited number of $10,000 scholarships to qualified international students. Among other criteria, the student receiving this full amount must be a residential student on our campus.
In order to apply for financial aid, families of international students must fill out the Morningside College financial aid form and send that completed form to the Office of Admission, Morningside College, 1501 Morningside Avenue, Sioux City, Iowa, 51106.
Before students are able to receive their immigration documents, they must prove that they have available funding to enroll at the College and must fill out an "Ability to Pay" form or "Certificate of Finances". These forms should include the financial aid award amount for those students with aid packages.
