Faculty member chosen to serve on national committee

Aaron Bunker, assistant professor of biology and chemistry at Morningside College, was recently chosen to serve a three-year term as a Trainee Advisory Committee (TAC) representative for the Teaching Section of the American Physiological Society (APS).

APS is a nonprofit organization with over 10,500 members. It works to foster education, scientific research and dissemination of information in the physiological sciences. TAC is the committee of APS that investigates the needs of early career professionals in the field, both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral, to determine how APS can provide support and assistance.

TAC was seeking a representative with documented interest and experience in physiology education and solid ideas to put forth to enhance the trainee experience offered by APS. There were 14 nominees for the position, and Bunker was the candidate chosen by the committee of judges.

Bunker has been a member of APS for 3.5 years. He is in his first year of teaching at Morningside after serving as a teaching assistant at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He also has experience as a tutor, lab assistant and guest lecturer. Bunker has a doctorate in biomedical sciences with a minor in college teaching from the University of Missouri.
