Morningside College will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16, with a “Civil Rights For All” presentation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Yockey Family Community Room of the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave.
Video and photo exhibits will feature civil rights movements of the 1960s and 1970s.
The purpose of the event is to highlight the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., said Corey Young, area coordinator/student activities coordinator at Morningside College. He said King is often seen as the leader of a black movement, but there were actually several groups whose civil rights work in that era captured the spirit of his message.
